Protective Garments and Use In The Facility
Substance protective garments are a vital element of personal protective equipment when it comes to worker wellbeing. One of the best protecting materials for these clothes is a product named Tyvek.
Tyvek is a synthetic material invented by DuPont from flash-spun, high-density polyethylene fiber. It is used in a number of applications (including envelopes), but our focus is its service in chemical protection clothing.
Tyvek is a good general-purpose, not reusable protective item of clothing for light-to-medium chemical protection. It offers defense from a variety of chemicals, together with dust, dirt, and dangerous particulates like lead, asbestos, and mold. An antistatic, low-lint fabric, Tyvek is sturdy and difficult to rip; on the other hand, it can be easily cut with shears or other razor-sharp equipment. Tyvek materials is also not a laminate, so its safety is not damaged as easily when the item of clothing is abraded. Mixed with nitrile gloves it is an efficient protection.
Areas where you would use Tyvek protection clothing include: vehicle service or other operations where you want to defend from contact with oil and grease; painting to shield skin and clothing from paint splatters; installation of fiberglass insulation; sanding operations or other activities where you want to shield from particulates (including radioactive dust); by employees in clean rooms and laboratories; lead, asbestos, and mold abatement; food processing; and anywhere you want to avert exposures to workers from dust and dirt. As noted above, Tyvek is meant for light-to-medium chemical contact scenarios and would not be a good choice in environments with severe chemical contact. Tyvek is also not fire resistant and should not be worn around flames, heat, sparks, or in combustible or unstable work areas.
Most people are accustomed with the white Tyvek coverall, but Tyvek is also used make a number of kinds of protection clothes including, lab coats, aprons, head-to-toe coveralls, and shoe and boot covers.
As soon as your employees are ready to perform their job in a agent environment they should be equipped with Tyvek clothing.
